LUANDA, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Angola has recorded 13 confirmed cases of mpox in its northern regions, Health Minister Silvia Lutucuta said on Thursday.
Speaking to the press after the first meeting of the Local Governance Council, Lutucuta urged the public to continue observing preventive measures recommended by health authorities to help curb the spread of the disease.
As part of prevention efforts, Angola is distributing mpox vaccine doses to the provinces, she said, adding that Angola has not recorded any suspected cases of Ebola.
According to the minister, health authorities have stepped up surveillance in border areas, including temperature screening for travelers entering and leaving the country. ■
