WASHINGTON, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. military struck an alleged narco-trafficking boat in the eastern Pacific on Wednesday, killing two people aboard, the U.S. Southern Command said.
"Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations," the command said in a post on X.
No U.S. military forces were harmed, it added.
Since early September, the U.S. military has conducted dozens of lethal airstrikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats, claiming nearly 200 lives in total. ■
