SEOUL, May 28 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's household income rose for 11 straight quarters thanks to job growth and social safety net expansion, statistical ministry data showed Thursday.
On a nominal basis, the monthly average income per household with one or more family members grew 2.4 percent from a year earlier to 5,481,000 won (about 3,630 U.S. dollars) in the January-March quarter, according to the Ministry of Data and Statistics.
The real household income, adjusted for inflation, gained 0.4 percent in the first quarter on a yearly basis.
The nominal earned income added 0.3 percent to 3,422,000 won due to higher wages and employment growth. ■
