KAMPALA, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's Courtney Claresha Asiimwe has advanced to the girls' singles final of the ongoing ITF J30 tournament in Kampala.

The tournament's third seed battled past India's Pritika Rana 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinal on Thursday at Kampala Club in the Ugandan capital.

"This was a very tough match against a tough opponent. After losing the first set I changed my game plan and it worked," Asiimwe told Xinhua after the match.

In the other girls' semifinal, Kenya's Stacy Chepkemei Yego defeated India's Armani Nalavade 7-6(4), 6-4 to book her place in the final.

In the boys' quarterfinals, Japan's Reita Yamanaka beat England's Harry Cornhill 6-1, 6-3, while Uganda's Samuel Okello lost to Jaylon Gabet 6-0, 1-6, 3-6.

Thailand's David Avayou also progressed to the semifinals after overcoming France's Hugo Jathiere 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, while India's Prakaash Sarran defeated Kenya's Hesbon Jeff Okuku 6-0, 6-1.

The ITF J30 Kampala tournament, which features players under the age of 18, started on May 25 and will conclude on Saturday with the boys' and girls' singles and doubles finals.

The tournament has attracted players from Uganda, Kenya, India, Ireland, France, Thailand, England, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, South Korea, Japan and Austria, among other countries.
