BERLIN, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Germany goalkeeper Alexander Nubel will leave VfB Stuttgart at the end of his three-year loan from Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga club announced on Wednesday.
Arriving in Stuttgart in the summer of 2023, Nubel made 129 competitive appearances for Stuttgart, the most he has recorded for any club in his career.
His spell coincided with one of Stuttgart's most successful recent periods. In 2023-24, Nubel and his teammates finished runner-up in the Bundesliga and qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The following season they lifted the German Cup, before Stuttgart again secured Champions League berth in 2025-26 and reached a second consecutive German Cup final.
The 29-year-old described his time in Stuttgart as "sensational in every respect." "My family and I had three wonderful years in Stuttgart, and I felt very comfortable from the first day," he said. "I received a great deal of appreciation and respect from the team and the fans, for which I am very grateful."
Nubel also developed into a Germany international during his Stuttgart stint, making his debut in a UEFA Nations League match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on October 2024. ■
