MANILA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the collapse of a building under construction in Pampanga province, northern Philippines, rose to five, authorities said on Wednesday.
The Angeles City Information Office said search teams were carefully extricating another body from beneath the rubble after a cadaver dog detected remains at around 6:18 p.m. At least 16 people remain missing after the structure collapsed before 3 a.m. on May 24.
A total of 26 people have been rescued so far. Emergency crews continued combing through the debris on Wednesday. ■
