JERUSALEM, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Israel on Wednesday launched a new national renewable energy plan, aiming to more than triple clean energy capacity by 2035, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure said in a statement.
The plan centers on solar expansion, prioritizing agrivoltaic systems, ground-mounted solar facilities, and dual-use installations alongside other renewable technologies.
It also includes major investments in smart electricity grids and energy storage systems to support increased use of renewable energy.
Israel aims to hit 26 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2035. Around 8 gigawatts are already installed, generating over 16 percent of the country's electricity consumption. ■
