HANOI, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has approved a program to develop supporting industries for the 2026-2035 period, targeting an average localization rate of 40 to 45 percent across multiple key sectors by 2030, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday.

The plan seeks to strengthen domestic manufacturing, reduce reliance on imported inputs and bolster the country's double-digit economic growth target.

Priority will be given to supporting industries covering smart electronics, energy equipment, railways, automobiles, mechanical engineering and automation, high-tech industries, as well as the garment, textile and footwear sectors, according to the report.

By 2030, the country aims to achieve localization rates of 25 to 30 percent in the electronics industry, 40 percent in manufacturing engineering, 22 to 30 percent in the automobile industry, and 15 percent in high-tech industries.

Supporting industries will be developed in tandem with technological innovation and digital transformation to advance sci-tech self-reliance and sustainable development, while complying with environmental and energy efficiency standards, the report added.
