JERUSALEM, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel will increase the intensity of strikes in Lebanon to "crush" Hezbollah.
In a recorded video statement, he said Israel is at war with Hezbollah and that in recent weeks the Israeli military has killed more than 600 of the group's militants in Lebanon.
Netanyahu added that he has ordered "to press the gas pedal even harder," and that Israel will "crush" Hezbollah.
He also said that a special team is working to deal with Hezbollah's fiber optic drone attacks.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said in a statement that it began striking Hezbollah infrastructure sites in the Beqaa Valley in eastern Lebanon and additional areas across the country.
A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon took effect in April. Despite the truce, Israel has continued to carry out near-daily strikes in Lebanon, while Hezbollah has launched attacks on Israeli military positions. ■
