JAKARTA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is preparing regulations that may impose sanctions on e-commerce platforms found to have violated rules protecting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), a minister said on Monday.
MSME minister Maman Abdurrahman said the draft regulation, which is nearing finalization, will include a reward-and-punishment mechanism for digital platforms operating in online marketplaces. The move comes amid concerns over rising seller fees and suspected market abuse in the country's digital economy.
"There will be a reward and punishment mechanism," Maman told reporters at the Indonesia Stock Exchange building in Jakarta, adding that the government is committed to protecting MSMEs amid global economic uncertainties.
"We are doing our best for micro and small businesses selling in marketplaces," Maman said. ■
