NEW YORK, May 24 (Xinhua) -- At least 19 people were injured in a stampede at Atlantic Beach in the U.S. state of South Carolina early Sunday, local authorities said.
Emergency responders were dispatched at around 1 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) to the stage area near South Ocean Boulevard in Atlantic Beach following reports of a stampede, said Horry County Fire Rescue in a post on social media.
The agency said 19 people were evaluated for injuries, none of which were believed to be life-threatening. Three people were transported to hospital, while others may have sought medical treatment on their own.
The incident occurred during Black Bike Week, a large annual gathering held over the Memorial Day weekend. ■
