LOS ANGELES, May 22 (Xinhua) -- The Pentagon on Friday released a second batch of files on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), commonly known as unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

The newly released files comprise 222 historical documents, photos, videos and eyewitness reports, including historical investigation records, as well as imagery and reports collected by U.S. military and government agencies in recent years regarding UAP observed in air, space, land and maritime domains.

The collection continues to be housed on a dedicated government website, war.gov/UFO, and additional files will be released on a rolling basis, according to the Pentagon.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said Monday that the website had received more than 1 billion visits since its launch on May 8, highlighting strong public interest in the topic.

He said the Pentagon and its agency partners are actively working on the third release of UAP files.

The first batch of files on UAP released by the Pentagon consisted of 161 items.
