ALMATY, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan exported 11.7 million tons of grain and flour since the start of the current agricultural year in September, up 13.6 percent, the agriculture ministry said on Friday.
The largest increase in shipments was recorded to Central Asia and Afghanistan, with exports to Uzbekistan rising 39.5 percent to 4.8 million tons, and supplies to Kyrgyzstan increasing 1.5 times to 457,000 tons. Grain shipments to Afghanistan more than doubled, reaching 3 million tons, while exports to Turkmenistan grew 47.7 percent to 192,000 tons.
Kazakhstan has set its export forecast for wheat and flour at 13.4 million tons for the current agricultural year. ■
