ISTANBUL, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan here on Friday highlighted the impact of regional crises on global energy security, calling for stable supply and diversified energy routes.
Addressing the second Istanbul Natural Resources Summit, Erdogan said recent geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions have exposed the fragility of energy markets and the importance of uninterrupted oil and gas flows.
Expanding liquefied natural gas capacity and improving infrastructure are key to enhancing flexibility and mitigating potential supply shocks, he noted.
Erdogan also cited Türkiye's ongoing natural gas production in the Black Sea and exploration activities aimed at supporting domestic supply, as well as offshore drilling and regional cooperation in energy and mining.
Dialogue and cooperation remain essential to addressing shared energy challenges, he said.
According to the president, the one-day summit, hosted by Türkiye's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, brought together policymakers, energy companies and international stakeholders to discuss energy security, resource management and regional cooperation amid rising geopolitical uncertainties. ■
