KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shuttlers produced mixed results on Day 3 of the 2026 Malaysia Masters on Thursday, with rising star Hu Zhe'an advancing in the men's singles, while Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi were eliminated in the mixed doubles.

In men's singles, reigning world junior champion Hu rallied past France's Alex Lanier 15-21, 21-16, 21-15. His teammate Li Shifeng cruised to a 21-14, 21-9 victory over Japan's Yudai Okimoto, while Lu Guangzu defeated Japan's Kodai Naraoka 21-7, 21-19.

In women's singles, Chen Yufei beat India's Devika Sihag 21-16, 21-13.

Men's doubles pair Hu Keyuan and Lin Xiangyi overcame India's Hariharan Amsakarunan and Arjun Madathil Ramachandran.

In women's doubles, Bao Lijing and Cao Zihan edged Thailand's Hathaithip Mijad and Napapakorn Tungkasatan. Chen Fanshutian and Luo Xumin defeated Indonesia's Lanny Tria Mayasari and Apriyani Rahayu, while Luo Yi and Wang Tingge beat Chinese Taipei's Lin Chih Chun and Yang Chu Yun.

In mixed doubles, Gao Jiaxuan and Wei Yaxin outclassed Thailand's Supak Jomkoh and Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn. Meanwhile, Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui defeated compatriots Zhu Yijun and Li Qian.

China also suffered several defeats on the day, with Zhu Xuanchen and Han Qianxi being knocked out of the men's singles and women's singles draws respectively. Others to bow out of the tournament included men's doubles pairs Xie Haonan and Zeng Weihan, and Huang Di and Liu Yang, as well as mixed doubles duo Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi.
