HANOI, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Travelers entering, exiting or transiting through Vietnam will be required to submit health declarations starting July 1, 2026, under a new government decree detailing the implementation of the Law on Disease Prevention, local newspaper Suc Khoe & Doi Song reported on Thursday.

The Ministry of Health will specify the applicable subjects and enforcement timeline for mandatory health declarations at border gates for different infectious diseases, based on the global epidemic situation and real-time importation risks of diseases in Vietnam.

Health declarations can be submitted either electronically or in paper form, according to the report.

The decree stipulates that health declarations must be completed within seven days prior to entry, exit or transit in Vietnam.

It also requires health quarantine officers to conduct direct and indirect health observation, monitor travelers' physical conditions and body temperature via medical surveillance equipment, so as to identify suspected infectious disease cases in a timely manner.
