MOSCOW, May 19 (Xinhua) -- An An-2 aircraft with eight passengers onboard made an emergency landing in a forest in Russia's Far East, local emergency services said Tuesday.
According to the regional ministry of emergency situations, the plane departed from the village of Teply Klyuch in Yakutia. The pilot later decided to return to the departure airport but subsequently lost communication.
After the emergency landing, authorities received the aircraft's coordinates and information that the passengers had left the forest area on foot and were heading toward Teply Klyuch.
Rescuers and medical personnel have been sent to the area, the ministry said. ■
