TOKYO -- More than half of respondents in recent Japanese opinion polls opposed the government's decision to lift restrictions on exports of lethal weapons.

WELLINGTON -- Two people were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday morning in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, police said.

JAKARTA -- Dukono volcano in Indonesia's North Maluku province erupted on Sunday, spewing gray ash up to 5,000 meters above its peak, the country's Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation said.

BANGKOK -- The train driver in the Bangkok train-bus collision case was tested positive for drugs, Thai media reported on Sunday.
On Saturday afternoon, a train traveling from Chachoengsao Province to Bang Sue in Bangkok collided with a bus at a railway crossing in the center of Bangkok, triggering a fire accompanied by popping sounds.
