NEW DELHI, May 16 (Xinhua) -- At least six persons, including a child and three women, died and 10 others were injured in India's southern state Karnataka when a speeding tanker hit the vehicle they were traveling in from behind, confirmed a local police officer on Saturday.
The victims were going to offer prayers at a local temple when they met with the mishap on Friday evening. As a result of the accident, the tractor fell off a bridge.
The victims hailed from Karnataka's Ballari district.
All six bodies had been recovered and those injured were admitted to a local hospital. The tanker driver was arrested over charges of negligence and rash driving, said the police. ■
