NEW DELHI, May 14 (Xinhua) -- At least three people died and over two dozen were injured when a massive explosion took place at a firecracker manufacturing unit located in India's central state of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, local police confirmed.
The blast was reported from the state's Tonk Kalan area in Dewas district.
The death toll was feared to rise, as some of the victims had over 90 percent burn injuries. Three dead bodies had been recovered, and the injured were admitted to different hospitals.
According to media reports, more than 200 people, mostly women, were employed at the ill-fated factory. At the time of the blast, over 25 workers were present inside the unit. ■
