HANOI, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Department of Taxation on Tuesday released the White Book on Vietnam Taxation, the first publication of its kind to provide an overview of the country's tax system, budget revenue performance in 2021-2025 and development orientations for the sector in the years ahead, the Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.

The publication highlights the sector's efforts to modernize governance, enhance transparency and improve consistency in public information, while positioning taxation as both a sustainable source of state budget revenue and a macroeconomic regulatory tool to promote social equity and support vulnerable groups, the report said.

According to the White Book, Vietnam's total state budget revenue topped 9.92 quadrillion Vietnamese dong (about 376.7 billion U.S. dollars) during the period, or 120 percent of the target set by the parliament.

The White Book sets out four major priorities for the sector's development, namely institutional reform, digital transformation, taxpayer-centered services and improved tax governance quality, the report added.
