ALMATY, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan's oil production in the first four months of 2026 fell about 5 million tons short of target due to disruptions at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium and the Tengiz oil field, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin said on Wednesday.

Had the planned volume been produced, the country's gross domestic product (GDP) growth for the period would have exceeded 6 percent, Zhumangarin said.

Kazakhstan's GDP grew by 3.6 percent year-on-year in January-April 2026, according to data from the Bureau of National Statistics.

Zhumangarin said that the current dynamics indicate growth in the non-resource sector, demonstrating the economy's ability to maintain expansion despite declining oil production, driven by manufacturing, construction and trade.
