LONDON, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Birtain's Scottish National Party (SNP) said on Wednesday that it would table a motion of no confidence against British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The party's new Westminster leader, Dave Doogan, said that the "leadership circus can't go on any longer," according to a statement quoted by Sky News.
"This farce has to end now, so parliament can focus on the issues that really matter," he said, adding: "It's clear the only way that can happen is for Keir Starmer to go."
"If the Labour cabinet ministers don't have the decency to do the right thing -- then parliament must," it added.
After his party's fiasco in Britian's local elections last week, Starmer is facing mounting pressure to resign. Several junior government ministers quit on Tuesday, while a number of cabinet members publicly voiced support for his leadership. ■
