BERLIN, May 11 (Xinhua) -- A 17-year-old Syrian national has been arrested in the northern German city of Hamburg on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack, German broadcaster NDR said on Monday.
The suspect allegedly planned to carry out an attack in a shopping mall, a bar, or a police station.
According to the NDR report, the suspect was arrested last Thursday. During a search of the suspect's apartment, investigators seized materials believed to be intended for the attack.
Investigations suggest the youth was inspired by the Islamic State (IS) extremist group, said NDR. ■
