TEHRAN, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Iran's response to the latest U.S. proposed text for ending the war was sent on Sunday to the Pakistani mediator, the official news agency IRNA reported.
According to the proposed plan, at this stage, negotiations will focus on ending the war in the region, the IRNA report said.
Meanwhile, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday, "The Iranian nation will never bow down to the enemy, and if there is talk of dialogue or negotiation, it does not mean surrender or retreat," according to a statement published on his office's website.
Making the remarks at a meeting in Tehran, Pezeshkian said negotiations are rather aimed at safeguarding the Iranian nation's rights and defending the country's national interests with strength.
Iran, the United States, and Israel reached a ceasefire on April 8 after 40 days of fighting that started with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities on Feb. 28.
Following the truce, Iranian and U.S. delegations held one round of peace talks in Pakistan's capital Islamabad on April 11 and 12, which failed to yield an agreement.
Over the past weeks, the two sides have reportedly exchanged several proposed plans outlining conditions for ending the conflict through Pakistan. ■
