BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The development of China-Russia relations embraces new historical opportunities, and China stands ready to work with Russia to continuously strengthen cooperation in various fields and promote the building of a more just and reasonable global governance system, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday.
Guo made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked to comment on Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement on Russia-China strategic coordination at a press conference after the May 9 Victory Day celebrations.
Putin said that coordination between the two countries has become a key pillar in deterring conflicts and safeguarding global strategic stability.
Guo noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, and the launch of the China-Russia Years of Education. He also added that China stands ready to work with Russia to continue upholding the spirit of enduring good-neighborliness, comprehensive strategic coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation for win-win outcomes.
Guo said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two presidents, China-Russia relations have maintained high-level development, injecting strong stability into a world fraught with changes and turmoil. ■
