HANOI, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on Monday requested a comprehensive and strong overhaul of foreign affairs work to better respond to rapid and unpredictable global developments, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Presiding over a working session with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the day, Hung urged the ministry to organize high-level foreign affairs activities through stronger coordination with relevant agencies and more practical and efficient approaches, according to the report.
He stressed the need to improve research and forecasting of both global and regional situations as well as major partners' policy adjustments so as to better respond to external risks and support the country's double-digit growth target and innovation-driven development model.
The government leader also called for building a modern and professional diplomatic sector, with Vietnamese missions abroad taking a more proactive role in promoting global cooperation and expanding trade markets, the report added. ■
