BUENOS AIRES, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Substitute Oscar Romero converted two extra-time penalties as nine-man Huracan advanced to the quarterfinals of Argentina's Apertura tournament with a 3-2 win at Boca Juniors on Saturday.
Leonardo Gil put Huracan ahead in the fifth minute and the visitor appeared to be cruising toward victory until Milton Gimenez equalized in the 87th minute with a close-range finish.
Romero, who replaced Gil in the 82nd minute, restored his side's lead with a 94th-minute penalty after Lautaro Di Lollo brought down Juan Bisanz.
Paraguayan midfielder Romero made it 3-1 nine minutes later when he again struck from the spot after a Di Lollo handball.
The momentum shifted when Huracan's Eric Ramirez and Fabio Pereyra were sent off in the 107th minute following poor challenges.
Angel Romero, the brother of Oscar, reduced the deficit with a 116th-minute header, and Boca dominated the final stages but could not find an equalizer.
The result means Huracan will meet Argentinos Juniors in the quarterfinals while Boca is out of the tournament.
Elsewhere, Argentinos Juniors progressed with a 2-0 home victory over Lanus, Union advanced with a 2-1 win at Independiente Rivadavia, and Belgrano also clinched a last-eight spot with a 1-0 win at Talleres. ■
