BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index flat at 4,179.95 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.5 percent lower at 15,563.80 points.
The combined turnover of the two indices totaled 3.05 trillion yuan (about 445 billion U.S. dollars), down from 3.14 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Commercial aerospace and robotics stocks led the gains, while the batteries, wind power and pork sectors declined.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.96 percent to close at 3,796.13 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 1.25 percent lower at 2,038.28 points. ■
