HONIARA, May 7 (Xinhua) -- David Tiva Kapu, the governor general of the Solomon Islands, has decided on May 15 as the date for the prime minister's election.
Solomon Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele was removed from office on Thursday after the National Parliament passed a motion of no-confidence by a narrow margin of 26 votes to 22.
Nominations of possible candidates from both the opposition coalition and the outgoing government will open from May 8 to May 10, and the National Parliament will convene on May 15 to elect a new prime minister. ■
