RIO DE JANEIRO, May 6 (Xinhua) -- A late strike from Brazil international midfielder Danilo gave Botafogo a 2-1 home win over Racing in the Copa Sudamericana group stage on Wednesday.
The hosts were gifted the lead when Marco Di Cesare turned the ball into his own net before Adrian Martinez headed in an equalizer.
Danilo restored the Rio de Janeiro club's lead with a composed finish after combining with Matheus Martins.
The visitors were forced to play the last minutes with 10 men after Facundo Cambeses was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.
The result leaves Botafogo with 10 points, two clear of Caracas FC and six ahead of third-placed Racing.
In other Copa Sudamericana fixtures on Wednesday, America de Cali won 2-0 at Alianza Atletico, Olimpia prevailed 1-0 at Barrancas Central, Macara was held to a 2-2 home draw by Tigre, Vasco da Gama won 2-1 at Audax and Torque won 1-0 at home to Palestino. ■
