TOKYO, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index jumped over 3 percent early Thursday, hitting a record intraday high.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 2,261.87 points, or 3.80 percent, from Friday to 61,774.99.
The broader Topix index was up 68.13 points, or 1.83 percent, at 3,796.86.
Japanese stock markets were closed Monday through Wednesday for public holidays. ■
