WINDHOEK, May 7 (Xinhua) --The Namibia Football Association on Thursday launched the 2026 NFA Cup, the country's premier knockout competition, which will run until June 27.
The competition, launched in Windhoek with 7.2 million Namibian dollars (441,000 U.S. dollars) in funding from the NFA, will involve 740 clubs, 66 leagues and 21,950 players across all 14 regions of the country.
The teams will come from the top-flight Namibia Premier Football League, the Women's Super League, all tiers of regional football and Futsal Namibia.
"The NFA Cup is, by virtue of our statistics and composition, the biggest football product that involves all players registered under the vanguard of the NFA," the association said in a statement.
The NFA said financial support would also be made available to help clubs with the logistical burden of a nationwide tournament, including travel subsidies and venue preparation. ■
