TEHRAN, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from a massive fire that erupted Tuesday at a shopping center near Iran's capital rose to 11, the official news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday.

The shopping center, named Arghavan Commercial Complex, is located in Andisheh city in Shahriar County, some 30 kilometers west of Tehran, and home to over 250 commercial units and 50 offices, the report said.

IRNA quoted Shervin Tabrizi, spokesman for Tehran's emergency medical services, as saying that 41 people were also injured in the incident. He added that the fire had been contained.

Ali Paidaran, head of the fire department in Andisheh city, told the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) that the fire was reported at 16:40 local time (1310 GMT), prompting the immediate dispatch of firefighting teams.

Paidaran added that the fire spread due to the composite materials used in the building's facade.

According to ISNA, Shahriar's Prosecutor Mehdi Mohammadi has issued an order to identify and arrest those responsible for the incident, as well as the building's developer.
