HONIARA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- The National Parliament of Solomon Islands is scheduled to convene on Thursday at Parliament House in Honiara to consider a motion of no confidence in Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele, according to a notice to members of parliament on Tuesday.
The notice said the first sitting of the fourth meeting of the 12th parliament will begin at 9:30 a.m. local time and will be held for the specific purpose of considering the motion.
The parliament said the sitting is convened in accordance with established constitutional and parliamentary procedures governing the conduct of business in the House.
The sitting comes after the Court of Appeal ordered the prime minister to take lawful steps by midday on Tuesday to convene parliament, which must sit on or before May 7. ■
