FRANKFURT, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Germany's leading airport operator Fraport announced on Tuesday that it will maintain its growth forecast for the year 2026.
"For the full year, we are maintaining our forecast for 2026, supported in particular by recent statements from the German government that jet fuel supplies are currently secure," said Fraport CEO Stefan Schulte.
Growth in traffic to other regions offset the declines in the Middle East for the Frankfurt airport, Schulte noted while commenting on the results of Fraport Group in the first quarter this year.
The group, which also operates a number of airports across the world on top of Frankfurt airport, reported on Tuesday growth of passenger numbers, revenue and earnings.
In spite of the Iran war, weather-related cancellations and strikes, traffic at Frankfurt Airport increased by 2.3 percent to 12.7 million passengers in the first quarter.
The company still expects the traffic in 2026 to be 188-195 million and the group EBITA to rise up to around 1.5 billion euros (1.75 billion U.S. dollars).
German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche said at a trade fair in Hanover last month that refineries were adapting to rising demand and jet fuel supplies was secure. ■
