NEW DELHI, May 5 (Xinhua) -- An emergency evacuation of a flight was launched at an airport in the northern Indian city of Chandigarh Tuesday after an onboard passenger's power bank caught fire and smoke filled the aircraft.
The incident occurred on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh, triggering an emergency response and evacuation upon landing.
According to officials, all 198 passengers and six crew members were evacuated using sliders.
"All customers have been safely moved to the terminal," IndiGo Airlines said in a statement.
Reports said the smoke spread throughout the cabin as the flight arrived at the bay, and the crew responded swiftly with a fire extinguisher to contain the fire. ■
