MOSCOW, May 5 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreigners in Russia stood at 6.1 million as of April 1, down from 6.8 million a year earlier, the press service of the Russian Security Council said Tuesday.
A total of 2.5 million foreign citizens and stateless persons entered Russia in the first quarter of 2026, a year-on-year drop of 15 percent, the office said in a statement.
"Nearly 1.8 million people in this migration flow are citizens of the Commonwealth of Independent States member states, accounting for 72.4 percent of the total," the statement added. ■
