WASHINGTON, May 5 (Xinhua) -- The Project Freedom is a temporary operation in the Strait of Hormuz and separate from the Epic Fury, a large-scale military operation against Iran, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told a press conference on Tuesday morning.
Hegseth warned that Iran would face overwhelming fire if it attacked commercial vessels, while stressing that the ceasefire with Iran is not over.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that the United States will guide ships out of the Strait of Hormuz from Monday morning, describing the move, named Project Freedom, as a "humanitarian gesture." ■
