COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka has reported 25,082 dengue cases so far in 2026, a senior health expert from the National Dengue Control Unit said on Saturday.
Consultant Community Physician Dr. Prashila Samaraweera said the highest number of cases came from Colombo, Gampaha, Matara, Galle, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts. There have been 12 dengue-related deaths so far this year. (Sri Lanka-Health)

YANGON -- Sixteen people were killed and 21 others were injured when a six-wheeled vehicle carrying bamboo overturned in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on Saturday, according to the Myanmar Fire Services Department.
The accident occurred after the driver of the six-wheeled vehicle lost control of its speed and overturned in Ottara Thiri township at around 1:50 p.m. local time, the report said. (Myanmar-Road Accident)

KABUL -- Afghan counter-narcotics forces have seized 50 kg of methamphetamine, or "ice," and arrested 75 suspected drug smugglers in a series of targeted operations, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said on Saturday.

JAKARTA -- The death toll from a train-car accident in Grobogan, Central Java, Indonesia, rose to five, police said Saturday.
