BEIRUT, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and eight others wounded on Friday evening in two Israeli airstrikes on the town of Habboush in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh district, according to the Ministry of Public Health's Emergency Operations Center.
Preliminary reports indicate that the casualties include a child and a woman among both the dead and the wounded.
Israeli warplanes also struck the town of Majdal Selm and the valley between the town of Zawtar and the village of Deir Siriane, according to the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA). There was no immediate information on casualties or damage in those areas.
Separately, Hezbollah said it targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers and vehicles at multiple locations in southern Lebanon.
In a separate incident, an Israeli drone crashed west of the village of Kfarhamam in the Hasbaya district, according to NNA. The Lebanese Army's engineering unit responded and handled the device.
The developments came despite a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon that took effect at midnight between April 16 and 17, following weeks of intensified cross-border fighting linked to the wider regional conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. ■
