ABIDJAN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations will provide about 1 billion U.S. dollars to support Cote d'Ivoire's National Development Plan (2026-2030) under a newly signed sustainable development cooperation framework, officials said on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed in Abidjan by Planning and Development Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba and UN Resident Coordinator Helene N'Garnim-Ganga, in the presence of government officials and development partners, according to a statement from the ministry.

N'Garnim-Ganga said the framework would support the country's efforts to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, calling it a "last collective opportunity" to accelerate progress.

She said the five-year framework aims to deliver transformational and sustainable results, particularly for vulnerable groups, through stronger partnerships and close alignment with national priorities.

Diarrassouba said the cooperation framework reflects "a shared commitment to sustainably consolidate the transformation of the Ivorian economy and society."

The UN support is structured around three priorities: economic transformation, equitable access to essential services and social cohesion, and environmental resilience and governance, according to the statement.
