ISLAMABAD, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Foreign Office said on Thursday that the country would continue its efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Middle East conflict.
"Pakistan is working to reduce tensions in the Middle East and the country continues to maintain open channels of communication with the parties involved," Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said during a weekly press briefing here.
Highlighting that the diplomatic relations with Iran and the United States are ongoing, the spokesperson said that diplomatic initiatives have helped to attain the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, and it continues to hold steady.
"The clock of diplomacy has not stopped working and is functional. We remain hopeful for a negotiated settlement of the issue. We will continue with our sincerest efforts," said the spokesperson.
He said that the proposals, both new and old, are on the table and the parties to the conflict are discussing, noting that there are internal deliberations that continue as well for both sides. ■
