WASHINGTON, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. State Department said on Tuesday that it will soon issue passports featuring President Donald Trump's picture inside.

"As the United States celebrates America's 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. Passports to commemorate this historic occasion," State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a post on X.

Mock-ups show Trump's image surrounded by the text of the Declaration of Independence and the American flag, along with the president's signature in gold, according to a report by Fox News.

Another page features the famous painting of the founding fathers at the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the report said.

The new passports will begin to be issued soon, and will only be processed at the Washington Passport Agency. It is not yet clear how many of the new passports will be issued.

Since Trump began his second presidential term, his name or likeness has appeared on one national symbol after another.

On March 19, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, whose members were personally selected by Trump, approved placing Trump's portrait on commemorative gold coins for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, and said the coins should be made as large as possible.

On March 26, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that Trump's signature would be printed on U.S. dollar banknotes to mark the 250th anniversary, which would be the first time a sitting president's signature appears on U.S. paper currency.

On March 30, the governor of Florida signed a bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport as "President Donald J. Trump International Airport."
