BEIJING, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.71 percent to 4,107.51 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.96 percent higher at 15,120.92 points.
The combined turnover of the two indices totaled 2.59 trillion yuan (about 377.51 billion U.S. dollars), up from 2.55 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
The lithium, computing power leasing, and rare earth sectors led the gains, while the semiconductor sector fell.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.51 percent to close at 3,687.17 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.54 percent higher at 1,885.91 points. ■
