BREST, Belarus, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Officials from the Brest region of Belarus expressed strong hopes for expanded cooperation with China during an international business forum that began on Tuesday.
Speaking to Xinhua, chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Petr Parkhomchik, highlighted the region's strategic logistics potential.
"We are ready to offer Chinese partners land for logistics hubs, enabling goods produced in China or locally in Belarus to be efficiently exported to European markets," he said.
Deputy chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Mikhail Batsenko, said that as the potential for the region's cooperation with China is enormous, "China's market is highly attractive to us."
Called Brest a vital node for China-Europe freight trains, Zhao Qingqiu, secretary-general of the Association of Chinese Companies in Belarus, said that more Chinese enterprises are discovering Brest's business resources and investment opportunities.
The two-day "First Region: Territory of Success" forum brings together over 100 participants from China, Vietnam, India, Zimbabwe, Serbia and Slovakia, among others. It aims to foster direct business links and launch joint projects through presentations, strategy discussions and contract signings. ■
