LONDON, April 29 (Xinhua) -- A man has been arrested after two people were stabbed in Golders Green, a north-west London neighborhood, a Jewish community watch group said on Wednesday.
According to Shomrim, the suspect was seen running along Golders Green Road armed with a knife and attempting to stab members of the Jewish community.
The group said it detained the suspect before local police arrived, used a Taser, and made an arrest.
The victims are receiving treatment from Hatzola, a Jewish volunteer ambulance service, the group added.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told Parliament that the incident is "deeply concerning," stressing that lawmakers must be "absolutely clear in our determination to deal with any of these offences, the likes of which we've seen too much recently."
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said on social media platform X that the capital's Jewish community has faced "a series of shocking antisemitic attacks," adding that "there must be absolutely no place for antisemitism in society."
The incident follows a series of arson attacks targeting Jewish sites in London in recent weeks.
A suspected arson attack was reported on Monday in the same area, involving a memorial wall, according to media reports. The case is under investigation by counter-terrorism police, though it is not currently being treated as terrorism.
Separately, a 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty last week to arson not endangering life in connection with an attack on a synagogue in north-west London on April 18. ■
