GENEVA, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The International Skating Union (ISU) on Monday released its calendar for the 2026-27 season, with multiple events set to be held in Chinese cities across figure skating, speed skating and short track.
Beijing will host the ISU Speed Skating World Championships from February 25 to 28, 2027, and will also stage a leg of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup on November 13 to 15, 2026.
Other Speed Skating World Cup stops include Obihiro in Japan, Heerenveen in the Netherlands, Stavanger in Norway, and Salt Lake City and Calgary in the United States and Canada.
In figure skating, Chinese cities Shenzhen and Chongqing will host Grand Prix Series events, with Chongqing staging the Junior and Senior Grand Prix Final from December 10 to 13, 2026. Tampere, Finland, will host a Grand Prix event.
The ISU Short Track World Tour will open in Vancouver, Canada, from October 23 to 25, 2026, before moving to Montreal, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing and Tilburg. A final European host city will be announced in May.
Meanwhile, Xi'an will open the ISU Junior Grand Prix series from August 19 to 22, 2026, with seven stops scheduled worldwide. ■
