KATHMANDU, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The Confucius Institute at Nepal's Tribhuvan University (TU) hosted a celebration on Sunday for the 2026 International Chinese Language Day.
The event featured displays of traditional Chinese culture, including calligraphy, tea art and paper-cutting, along with a photo exhibition. Faculty and students also presented a variety of performances, including poem recitations, songs, skits, and dances that showcased both Chinese and Nepali culture.
"Confucius Institutes, Confucius Classrooms, the China Cultural Center, and nearly 100 local schools have built professional and diverse platforms for Nepali students, promoting the popularization and localization of Chinese language education," said Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming.
He added that learning Chinese helps young Nepalis benefit from China's development and expand their career prospects, especially as China-Nepal cooperation deepens under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Zhang Xingnian, Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at TU, said that the institute organizes or co-organizes an average of over 30 events and delegation visits annually.
"Moving forward, we will provide better teaching services, richer cultural activities, and a broader platform for exchanges, so that Chinese and Nepali youth can communicate face to face and connect heart to heart," he said. ■
