KABUL, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall killed three people and damaged dozens of homes in northern Afghanistan's Baghlan province, a local official said on Saturday.
Hedayatullah Hamdard, head of the provincial disaster management department, said that nearly 30 residential houses were either destroyed or severely damaged.
He added that assessment teams have been deployed to evaluate the extent of the damage, while efforts are underway to provide emergency assistance to those in need.
Afghanistan is highly vulnerable to natural disasters such as floods and landslides, particularly during the spring season, which frequently results in loss of life and damage to property and infrastructure. ■
